When Robin, the son of a nobleman, falls and loses the use of his legs, he is abandoned and left alone. A monk named Brother Luke rescues Robin and takes him to the hospice of St. Mark's, where he is taught woodcarving and--much harder--patience and strength. Winner of the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award.

Good and Good For You

Anyone who has ever experienced feeling inadequate for unavoidable tasks will benefit from reading this book. Its artistry is a joy. And it's just a plain ol' good story.

Highly recommend it

I use it in my classroom. The students enjoyed it. It is an easy enough read for lower reading abilities but Lots of great extension activities for higher achieving students. I recommend it very much. Buy it for your classroom. You will use it.
