Not just a book of cute maps

When I looked up the book on other sites and first learned about it and other cities, it was presented as a book of quirky maps of the city with significant historical events marked on the map. Maps in this book include Crash, Songs, Carbon, Water and others. But, in between the maps are essays and information about the maps and back ground for some of the sites marked n the map. I was surprised by the thickness of the book when I got it, and the price, but the contents explain those things. This is not a good/bad review. If you want a book about some aspects of New York and its history, you might like it. If you have seen that it is just a book of maps about a city, it is more than that.
