As a player agent, he negotiated the first million-dollar deal in NFL history (for Heisman Trophy-winner Billy Sims) and as the co-owner of the USFL's Houston Gamblers he (as a member of the league's competition committee) implemented the concept of instant replay, the coach's challenge, the two-point conversion and wide-open passing rules, all of which were subsequently adopted by the NFL.
