Edgar Rice Burroughs

Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950) was born in Chicago, Illinois and spent much of his adult life working various jobs. When he was unable to maintain steady employment, he began writing fiction in his spare time. He solicited pulp magazines and published his first story "Under the Moons of Mars," in 1912.
