Charlotte Bronte

Charlotte Brontė was born in 1816. Her father was an Anglican clergyman, and her mother and two of her sisters died while Charlotte was still a child. Growing up in the remote Yorkshire Moors, writing stories was prime entertainment for Charlotte and her siblings. Her two sisters, Emily and Anne Brontė, also became accomplished writers. Charlotte Brontė also wrote the novels Villette, Shirley, and The Professor.
