Kautzky was a well known watercolorist a half century ago. However, one can never escape the time in which one lives. His work is now dated. Occasionally he transcends his time and produces a timeless piece. A painting such as Tidal Flats does that, but it was done after he wrote the book and does not appear in it. An interesting look at what I used to worship, but no longer.
