Good VLSI for Wireless book,especially for student

General :
Author presents design issues with case studies that will help the readers to gain more insight.
There are some unique features of the book that might not be available in other books about RF CMOS ICs.
The first of all is the first chapter,"Communication Concepts:Circuit Designer Perpective."
This chapter intends to provide better understanding for Circuit Designers about how numerous
circuit parameters are related to required system parameters,standards and specifications.
The chapter is written to help many readers or circuit designers to gain more insight to
translate standards or given system parameters to achievable circuit design parameters. I also feel that Chapter 1 is good for a review of several important concepts in communication
theories,wireless channels,path loss and fading in radio channels.
Another unique feature of the book is the detailed explanation of VOLTERRA series,concepts
of nonlinear time-variant systems. You can find several theories for analysis of
nonlinear systems and noise, that are not available in other books.
There is a good chapter of "Analog-to-Digital Converters" (Chapter 6)
It gives a good detailed explanation of the Concepts and operation of sigma-delta modulators,
as well as explanation of Low-Pass and Bandpass Sigma-Delta Modulators. In Sec.4.6 Distortion,High-frequency case, you can find nine pages of explanation for
Volterra series,Nonlinear Time Invariant(NLTI) systems and its simple case of a bilinear system.
You can find five pages that explain "Theory of Linear Periodic Time Variant System" for analysis of Vlo Switching Case.
Chapter 7 of the book is also interesting in which the author explains significant details of several components of a typical integrated frequency synthesizer.
Nonetheless, only a few sample circuits are shown to learn the design, maybe the author
would like to allocate more space or pages for detailed explanation of important concepts
and theories. Anyway, the sample circuits seem suitable for the particular design task.
The author might already consider to select the best configuration from many available.
W/L of MOS transistors in some numerical examples are very large.The book should have a section
to explain real-world realization of large W/L given current CMOS technology.
Author's Writing Style:
If you read the book, you will find that Bosco enjoys writing very detailed explanation
for several important concepts of RF circuits.For example,in Chapter 3,section 3.3, he writes
a good long detailed explanation for the concept of the source degenerated inductor for matching
,as compared to the same content of another book related to RF CMOS circuits.He even tries to
show the phasor diagrams for illustration.These are not shown in another book,nor maybe also in
many other books.
Thus, the book should be very suitable for many students who want to explore in depth related
particular topics of RF VLSI circuits.
The author often uses long or verbose sentences in his writing expression and explaining concepts.
A number of readers might not like this style, if they prefer writing and reading of concise sentences.
Many of those people might be a very busy person,who does not have much time for each chapter.
I have a comment on the organization of some chapters.Some subsections are too long and difficult
to find some specific details later.If it is possible to extract some parts of theory or principle
and write them in a separate chapter,it might be better and easier to add more detailed explanation.
Errata: I think, I found some odds. Anyway,other readers please also check.
Chapter 2 -Page62, fourth line : large stage -> last stage
-Page70, :"(i.e." in the 16th line, should be removed.

There are 350 pages of contents,not counting the Index pages(a small book). A list references is given at the end of each chapter.Anyway,most readers might not be able to
access some of the references,for example, those of Doctoral Theses at U.C. Berkeley.
Maybe some contents are only good for research students to explore more details."
