Inspiring Book on Navigation

I'm a forester by trade and have been teaching map and compass and gps classes for quite a while in New Mexico. I'm always reading about the history of navigation, exploration and the like. I have read Ms. Sobel's book, Longitude, before, multiple times. This book has the missing component of illustrations as the title suggests and brings images to the main personages in the original. I love it, will use it in my classes and am astounded at the character and genius of John Harrison. Thanks to Ms. Sobel and Mr. Andrewes for letting me see and read his story.

The Illustrated Longitude is a must!

I previously read Dava Sobel's non-illustrated edition of "Longitude" and was fascinated by the story she spun so when she teamed up with William Andrewes for an "Ilustrated Longitude" I knew I was hooked.
The illustrated version is a must for collectors, connoisseurs and historians alike.
The exquisite photography adds a new facet and dimension that is not to be missed.
Sobel's background as a science writer is evident throughout because she has seamlessly woven the historical and technical into a readable tale.
