An autobiographical account of Betsy Byar's summer with Moon - a big black snake - and how they get to know each other, during one summer on her front porch. One of the reasons Betsy Byars longed to grow up was so that she could have as many pets as she wanted, and top of the list came a pet snake. It took 40 years, but Betsy finally got her wish.
