Old Chestnut Well Presented

This first part of the "Ring" trilogy is well presented in this edition, in large, readable format on high-quality paper, with a handful of suitable illustrations. If you wish to own the trilogy as a set, this is the one to buy.

Alas, those illustrations are uninspired and conventional, as are those in most editions. Even jaded imaginations can picture the interactions and adventures of hobbits, dwarves (Tolkien's spelling), orcs, elves, good and evil wizards, and the redoubtable Gollum better than the attempts presented here.

Barring that minor cavil, these are excellent volumes presenting an excellent tale; don't settle for less.
