Portraits of an era, political and academic

Isaiah Berlin wrote beautifully about people he knew, mostly Oxford scholars but some key political figures too (even a very few he didn't know personally). In almost every case he adds the personal character sense to people otherwise known only for their surpassing scholarship or political achievement.
