I simply could not put this book down! I began reading it to indulge the friend who recommended it to me and quickly became riveted. It is a diary of what he did every day, how much wood he cut , how many stones he collected and how he fit them together. He describes the country side and the animals, also the cold and the solitude. I have no desire to do what he did but reading about it was fascinating! I gave many copies for Christmas gifts that year! Everyone else loved it too.
