Merlin's Keep worth collecting

A lovely mix of intrigue, occult and independent female characters made Merlin's Keep as enjoyable as all other Madeline Brent books (pseudonym of Peter O'Donnell). This could also be considered a historical romance although that part of the plot is not strong enough to overcome the overall storyline of a young woman discovering the truth of her origins in the early 20th century. The villain in this work is an evil gray man whose presence could leave you wondering who might play him on film if this book were turned into a screenplay. I enjoyed it and highly recommend it to others looking for richly detailed globe spanning mystery.
