Terrific Family Book!

I bought James Herriot's Treasury for Children as a gift for someone. There are about 10 or 12 stories in it from the many that the Yorkshire vet wrote, and they will appeal especially to children.

While it was wonderful to read the stories once again, what really got me was the many wonderful illustrations! Barrett illustrated two of the stories, Brown illustrated the rest of them. And the pictures are absolutely wonderful in that they capture the feeling of the Yorkshire Dales, the town of "Darrowby", market scenes and domestic scenes.

For each story, there are several illustrations which make the story come to life most convincingly.

I am going to have to order another one for my friend. I am keeping this one for myself and my family!
