Armchair adventure

Not one of Howard Hawks's best films, HATARI! is nonetheless one of his most likeable. It's an amiable, relaxed film, oddly devoid of crisis or conflict, not funny enough to be a comedy or dangerous enough to live up to its Swahili title, but for all that, compelling and enjoyable from start to finish, the work of a director enormously comfortable with his talent and his vision.

Fantastic movie!

One of my all-time favorites!! I love the wide-open shots of the African plains. The wildlife is great! Love all the animals! The animal chase scenes are incredible. Catching the monkeys is one of the great moments in this film. Humor, adventure, action! A superb cast of actors! I have loved this movie since I was a kid and my family loves to watch it regularly!
